A letter for my employee

Dear Mr. Smith:,

This reference letter is provided at the written request of James K. Hilliker, who has asked me to serve as a reference on his behalf. It is my understanding that James is being considered by your organization for the position of intern. Please be advised that the information contained in this letter is confidential and should be treated as such. The information should not be disclosed to James or anyone in your organization who would not be involved in the hiring decision regarding this individual. Additionally, the information should not be disclosed to anyone outside of your organization without the consent of the student.

I have known James for the past 15 years as he has a long time family friend and employee. As his neighbor, I have had an opportunity to observe his participation and interaction in our community. I would rate the student's overall performance and responsibility as excellent.

As part of our organization, James was required to prepare a work hard and learn new tasks. His response was to evaluate new tasks and he was highly motivated to accomplish whatever was asked of him. I never had to ask him twice to accomplish a task.

The one area in which the James performed well above average was in oral communications. He interacts well with all customers and other employees.

Based upon the James' academic performance, community standing and work experience and my understanding of the position for which James is applying, I believe he would perform very well as an intern with your company.
